Catering Manager
As a Catering Manager your overall role is to produce the required products on the main menu for the high school supporting the team providing using fresh ingredients and making the products from fresh. You will also be responsible for preparing, all cleaning duties and cooking, storing all utensils and crockery in the correct areas, operate and maintain the efficient running of the kitchen equipment e.g. dishwashing machine. Also supporting the manager with the management of the catering team at the site.
You will also be required to put away all deliveries promptly and ensure the stockroom is clean and accessible.
Catering Manager Responsibilities: • Providing a full catering service to the children and staff • Managing a team (including managing their performance, training and development, absence management and disciplinary if required) • Controlling a tight budget and achieving sales targets and food cost percentage • Managing client demands, client relationship development • Ensuring all food hygiene and health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times • Adhere to existing and new working practices, methods, procedures and respond positively to new and alternative systems • Following safeguarding policies • Taking an active part in any unit sales promotions • Ordering products via the online portal • Carry out a stock take when required • Completing relevant unit required paperwork • Inducting & training new staff • Participate in training and development • Carry out ad hoc duties as directed by Area Manager • Perform other related duties as required to meet the on-going needs of the organisation. • May also be required to cover other sites within a reasonable distance
Essential Qualifications & Experience Needed To Be The Catering Manager:
Previous contract catering experience is required • Excellent client liaison / relationship building skills are vital to this role. • Must have excellent cooking skills in both presentation and taste. • You will also be IT proficient. • A desire to be creative and developing new ideas to keep the children interested in exploring different foods. • Ability to successfully manage a team • Must have excellent organisational skills • Ability to promote a welcoming environment to our customers • Neat and tidy in appearance • A ‘can do’ attitude, prepared to assist the rest of the team
It will be necessary for the company to apply for a DBS check for school sites
